Anthony Malutta advises leading brand owners regarding the acquisition, use and enforcement of rights under trademark and copyright laws. He specializes in the strategic management of large global trademark portfolios for household brands. Mr. Malutta has deep expertise advising clients in the technology, retail, and food product sectors.
Complementing Mr. Malutta's brand counseling is his significant experience litigating intellectual property disputes in federal courts, as well as before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Mr. Malutta also maintains an active practice counseling clients on issues related to the Internet, including the development of comprehensive on-line brand protection plans, resolving domain name disputes, and advising clients regarding DMCA and other takedown issues.
Mr. Malutta is Co-Leader of the firm’s Trademark & Copyright Team, a role he has held since 2010. During his tenure, the Team established a national presence and grew to include over 85 dedicated trademark and copyright attorneys.
Mr. Malutta was recommended in the area of Trademark Litigation in 2012 and 2013 and for Non-Contentious Trademark Law in 2014, 2015 and 2016 by Legal 500 US. He is listed in the 2017 and the five years immediately preceding editions of World Trademark Review 1000 – The World's Leading Trademark Professionals and in 2017, Mr. Malutta was described as "one of the three heads of the elite trademark and copyright team" at Kilpatrick Townsend and he is "a guiding light for major household names, he is particularly proficient at strategically managing global portfolios, but is also no stranger to enforcing and litigating on their behalf." Mr. Malutta was recognized as a 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 "IP Star" by Managing Intellectual Property magazine. He was named a 2013 and 2014 Northern California "Super Lawyer" for Intellectual Property by Super Lawyers magazine.
